Sightseeing Bus to Cape Sounion

Embarking on the scenic route to Cape Sounion, you will discover one of the most significant sites tied to Greek mythology while enjoying an audio guide in English.

Activity Details

At the designated time, we will gather in Athens and proceed to Cape Sounion. Throughout the journey, the audio guide will provide captivating insights about this renowned landmark in the Attica area.

This location holds immense significance in Greek history. Legend has it that this was the very place where Aegeus took his own life, believing that his son Theseus had perished, which in turn gave its name to the Aegean Sea.

Upon arrival, you have the opportunity to explore the renowned Temple of Poseidon at your leisure, an impressive structure from the 5th century B.C.. You will be amazed by the towering columns that reach over 6 meters (20 feet) in height! Remarkably, these columns were designed to mitigate air erosion, and with a keen eye, you'll notice an engraving left by the illustrious poet Lord Byron.

As dusk descends, we will relax on Cape Sounion to witness one of the most breathtaking sunsets in Greece.

We will then return to the bus for our journey back to Athens, with our arrival at the meeting point anticipated 4 hours after we set off.
