Tour Overview

Our meeting point is located outside of the K20 Art Gallery at the appointed time. Interestingly, Düsseldorf’s Old Town boasts “the longest bar in the world.” This is not merely a single counter, but an astonishing array of over 300 bars and taverns located within just half a square kilometer.

During this complimentary tour, we will make four key stops at the city's premier breweries to explore their most valuable asset: Altbier, a beer fermented by traditional methods that stands as a symbol of local pride. We will also discuss how the region's geography has shaped the brewing craft and share stories about the influential brewers behind these establishments.

To start, we will visit Brauerei im Füchschen, known for its vibrant ambiance and distinctive copper-hued beer. Here, we’ll meet the Köbes, traditional bartenders, and discover their special serving methods.

Following that, we’ll delve into the Schnitz family's history at Brauerei Zum Schlüssel and learn why their recipe is regarded as one of the smoothest and most traditional. Our next stop will be Brauerei Schumacher, the oldest altbier brewery in Düsseldorf, established in 1838.

Lastly, we’ll visit Brauerei Uerige, celebrated for its favored brew among “beer purists” due to its pronounced bitterness and unique hoppy flavor.

After an engaging 2-hour tour, we will bid farewell.
