Prepare your hiking boots for an adventure in the Serra de Malagueta Natural Park! Here, you will traverse lush island vegetation and uncover Gongon and Espinho Branco, two of the island's most culturally rich villages.

Hiking in Serra de Malagueta

Your journey begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Praia, after which we will embark on the hour-long drive to the Serra de Malagueta Natural Park. Once we arrive, you'll be greeted by the stunning views of the volcanic Fogo Island, a landscape that promises to leave a lasting impression!

During approximately three hours of hiking, you will navigate through the vibrant greenery of the national park. We'll follow the Main river, heading towards our first destination: Gongon. In this village, locals will share insights into the ancient traditions of Santiago Island, which are still practiced today.

Continuing our exploration of nature, we will make our way to Espinho Branco, where breathtaking ocean vistas await you. Here, you'll encounter the rabelados, a unique religious community that has chosen a life of isolation since 1942, and discover the reasons behind their lifestyle!

To conclude your hiking experience, a well-deserved picnic lunch will be prepared, featuring sandwiches, water, juice, fruit, and dessert. Afterward, we will take a bus back to Praia and return you to your hotel, wrapping up a memorable five hours of exploration.
