Saona Island Beach Excursion
Descrição
Discover the enchanting southern coastline of Saona Island through this excursion departing from Boca Chica. A captivating paradise rich in native wildlife and mangrove ecosystems awaits your exploration!
Description
Your adventure will commence between 7 and 9 am with a pickup from your accommodation in Boca Chica. Afterward, we will journey towards Bayahíbe, where a boat will take us to the stunning Cotubanamá National Park. Along the way, a brief stop at Palmilla Beach will allow us to soak in the beauty of this serene location, embraced by coconut palms and soft sands.
We will then continue our voyage to Saona Island, a remarkable gem within the Cotubanamá National Park, also referred to as Parque Nacional del Este. Here, we will explore Playa La Caleta and Playa Mano Juan, famous for their crystalline natural pools.
When it’s time for lunch, we will indulge in a traditional meal by the seaside, featuring rice, meat, salad, pasta, and a soft drink.
After our meal, we’ll stroll through the vibrant town of Mano Juan, taking in the colorful traditional houses and visiting the sea turtle conservation center. Here, we will gain insights into the vital protocols for nurturing the hatchlings of these magnificent creatures. If your visit falls between August and September, you may even witness the adorable newborn turtles!
Next, we’ll make our way to Los Flamencos Beach for a refreshing swim while observing some of the most remarkable native birds in the region. Afterward, we’ll reboard our boat to navigate through the lush mangrove areas, aquatic forests teeming with red, white, button, and black mangroves. If you wish, you can even take a dip to marvel at the starfish below, being cautious not to disrupt their habitat.
As the day draws to a close, we will savor a delightful cocktail featuring Dominican rum. Finally, we will return to the pier in Bayahíbe and catch the bus back to Boca Chica, ensuring you arrive at your hotel between 5 and 6:30 pm.

Informações importantes
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Boca Chica between 7 and 9 am. The guide will contact you to inform you of the exact pickup time.
It's important that you bring with you an identification card or passport on the day of the activity. A photo of your passport is sufficient.
Important
- Once you know the exact pickup time, please be ready at the hotel reception 10 minutes in advance to avoid delays on the tour.
- During lunch, you can get second servings of the rice dishes, salad, fresh fruit and drinks if you're still hungry.
- The conditions of the speedboat ride will depend on the tides and sea conditions. The trip may be a bit bumpy, so for this reason, the activity is not recommended for people with back or neck problems. In any case, all seats have backrests and, if you sit at the back of the boat, you'll feel less movement.
- We highly recommend starting the day with a hearty breakfast to ensure you have enough energy for the excursion ahead.
- Photography equipment is not provided by our company. If you wish to have professional photos taken, you can hire somebody on your own. We suggest discussing the price and quantity of photos to be delivered beforehand, ensuring both parties are clear on the agreed conditions. You should also get the photographer's name, surname, email, and telephone number. Verify that the photographer writes down their email for photo delivery or for future reference (make sure to write them within a day, as photos are usually deleted).
- Additionally, on the beach, you may encounter local vendors selling handicrafts, women offering massages, or coconut water sellers inviting you to taste their refreshing products. These individuals are part of the community on Saona Island, and their livelihood depends on tourism. If you're not interested, politely declining is completely understandable. However, if you choose to purchase their products or services, you'll be supporting the local economy and contributing to their success. We appreciate your collaboration in promoting and developing the community.
