Saint Emilion Tour + Wine Tasting in a Winery
Description
Explore the rich wine heritage of the Gironde by delving into one of the premier wine estates of France. This experience also includes a delightful wine tasting!
Available Experiences
While arranging your excursion to Saint Emilion from Bordeaux, you have the choice between a wine-tasting experience at a Château Grand Cru or a charming family-owned winery.
Both experiences feature pickup at the scheduled time from the Monument to the Girondins located in Place des Quinconces, along with transportation and the accompaniment of a knowledgeable guide.
Family Winery Tour and Wine Tasting (4 Hours)
Following our meetup at the designated location, we'll embark on a 40-minute journey to Saint-Émilion. Here, a guided visit will introduce us to its picturesque historic center, which proudly holds the status of a World Heritage Site. We'll also hear tales of an 8th-century Benedictine monk who spent his final years in this enchanting locale.
Next, we'll head to a family-managed winery on the outskirts of the village, renowned for its Bordeaux wine production. This wine tourism experience—subject to seasonal variations—includes a stroll through the vineyards, a glimpse into the barrel storage facilities, and insights into the winemaking journey, from grape harvesting to bottling.
Our time at the winery concludes with a tasting of two wines paired with a traditional French aperitif featuring bread, cheese, charcuterie, and chocolate. After this delightful tasting session, we’ll head back to Bordeaux, arriving 4 hours after we set out.
Château Grand Cru Winery Tour and Wine Tasting (4.5 Hours)
After convening at Place des Quinconces, we will travel to the historic village of Saint-Émilion via minibus.
During our visit, the guide will share fascinating details about the local winemaking culture as we admire the sprawling vineyards and the cellars where meticulously crafted bottles of wine are stored, reflecting generations of expertise.
On the outskirts of Saint-Émilion, we will tour the cellar of a château, where the prestigious Grand Cru Classé wines are created. We’ll appreciate their exceptional quality through a sampling of four wines, complete with pairings of distinctive French delicacies such as bread and fresh cheese.
After indulging in this exquisite oenological and culinary venture, we’ll proceed to the village center for a guiding tour of Saint-Émilion. Its historical vicinity has received recognition as a World Heritage Site, and during our walk, you’ll understand why its designation is well-deserved.
The tour will conclude as we return to Bordeaux, wrapping up a memorable experience over the course of 4.5 hours.
