Day Trip to Syracuse, Noto & Ortigia

Your adventure begins with a convenient hotel pickup as we embark on a minibus ride, departing from Catania and heading toward our first destination, Noto, approximately an hour away.

Syracuse is recognized as one of Sicily's most stunning cities. As we wander its streets, we'll visit the Archaeological Park of Neapolis, noted for its impressive Greek and Roman ruins. Among the highlights are the theater, still hosting classical music performances; an ancient altar used for sacrifices; an extraordinarily preserved amphitheater; and the Cave of the Cordeliers, historically a prison. You'll find yourself mesmerized!

Next, we resume our journey to Ortigia, where a guided tour of the historic center awaits. Here, you’ll admire the facade of the Temple of Apollo, the exquisite cathedral, and the enchanting fountain of Arethusa. This tour beautifully intertwines Greek mythology with breathtaking Baroque architecture. Afterwards, enjoy some free time for lunch and further exploration at your own pace.

In the afternoon, we travel to Noto, a stunning Baroque town recognized as a World Heritage Site. During our visit, we'll discuss the devastating earthquake that struck in the late 17th century and how it spurred a remarkable revival in the city's architecture. Marvel at the exterior of the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, the ornate balconies of the Nicolaci di Villadorata Palace, the grand Royal Gate, and other significant landmarks.

After a day filled with exploration in Syracuse, we'll return to Catania, bringing our excursion to a close after approximately 9 hours.
