Château de Chinon Tickets
Descripción
Your visit to the Château de Chinon allows you to explore one of the most significant monumental collections in the Loire Valley, which consists of three key structures: the Fort Saint-Georges, the Château du Milieu, and the Château du Coudray.
Why Explore the Château de Chinon?
Perched on a cliff overlooking the Vienne River, a principal tributary of the Loire, the Château de Chinon showcases remarkable fortification featuring three bastions.
This fortress has played a pivotal role in France's history, serving as a crucial sanctuary for Henry II, King of England. Its ancient stone walls have hosted notable figures such as Eleanor of Aquitaine, Charles VII, and Joan of Arc throughout different eras.
With your admission, you can navigate through the three bastions at your leisure. Additionally, your ticket includes a Histopad, an English-language tablet offering insights into the fortress's historical grandeur, featuring captivating 3D and 360° immersive reconstructions.

Fort Saint-Georges
The visitor center is situated upon the remnants of the Fort Saint-Georges. These ruins, only uncovered in the 21st century, were revealed through archaeological studies between 2003 and 2010, exposing a previously unidentified 12th-century Plantagenet palace.
Château du Milieu
The "middle castle" served as the former royal residence and dates back to the 14th century when Louis I, Duke of Anjou, commissioned its construction. Among its highlights is the Tower of the Treasure, built under Henry II's orders to secure the royal treasury's vital letters and documents.
Also worth noting are the Clock Tower, Argenton Tower, and Dog Tower. The castle grounds host various historical siege engines, including a notable catapult.
Château du Coudray
This fortress features three defensive towers: the Coudray Tower, Boissy Tower, and Moulin Tower. These structures were designed to protect one side of the Château de Chinon.
