Inca Trail Hike: Four Days
Description
Are you adventure-seekers? Do you love adventures? Enjoy trekking? Ever wanted to sleep on a mountaintop? If all your answers are yes, then this 4-day Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu is perfect for you!
Description
Day 1
On the first day, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at the scheduled time. From there, we'll head to point km 82 on the route by minibus, where we'll start our 4-day hiking adventure to Machu Picchu.
During this day, we'll start our route up the mountain until reaching the villages of Miskay and Llactapate, where we'll enjoy our first lunch. Here, you'll discover the archaeological complex of Llactapata and the community of Huyllabamba.
The tour continues to the camp of Lluncachimpa and Huayllabamba, at almost 11,000 feet in altitude. Here we'll have dinner and spend the night.
Day 2
On this day, we'll rise early to watch the sunrise over the Andes, one of the best sights on the itinerary.
After eating breakfast, we'll walk through the valley of Lluncachimpa and continue climbing until we reach Llulluchapampa. The track will take us to Warmi Wañusqa, 13,780 ft high up. From this point, the highest on the tour, you'll have spectacular views of the snowy peaks and the surrounding archaeological remains.
After lunch, we'll continue the journey through the valley of Pacaymayu and over the pass of Runkurakay until we reach Sayacmarca, the most significant archaeological complex so far on the trail. Without a doubt, this is a beautiful place.
We'll eat dinner and spend the night in the camp of Chaquicocham about 12,000 feet in altitude.
Day 3
After breakfast, we'll set off on the third day of the hike. This is the easiest part of the route, as this is the area of the tropical forests known as Yunga. You're sure to be captivated by the impressive landscapes and magnificent ruins here.
In the afternoon, we'll visit the archaeological sites of Runkarakay, Phuyupatamarca and Wiñay Huayna, the largest and most surprising on the route and also home to the camp where we'll have dinner and spend the last night.
Day 4
On the last day, we'll get up very early, at around 4:30 am. Under the light of the stars, and with a torch in our hand, we'll continue on the route to Inti Punku, or the Sun Gate, where we'll have breakfast while admiring a magical sunrise over Machu Picchu. This is the most memorable moment on the whole trip.
After dawn, we'll continue the descent to Machu Picchu, where we'll do a guided tour of the historic Inca citadel. After the visit, you'll have your own free time to tour the area and take photographs.
After this unforgettable experience, we'll take a bus to Aguas Calientes, where we'll take the train. Then, we'll take you back to your hotel in Cusco, or, if you wish, we could end the tour in Urubamba, Ollantaytambo or Yucay.
