Marsella Day Trip
Description
Embarking on this trip to Marsella offers you the chance to explore one of Colombia's most historic cities while also diving into the art of artisan chocolate making.
Marsella Day Trip
Our adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Manizales at 7 am, followed by a picturesque drive toward the municipality of Marsella in the Risaralda region.
As we journey through the stunning coffee fields in the Cauca River Valley, the landscape will captivate you. Upon arrival in Marsella, we will visit an agricultural farm where a delightful appetizer awaits: patacones topped with hogao, a savory sauce crafted from fresh local ingredients.
Your visit will include a comprehensive tour of the farm, featuring vibrant fruit trees and the cocoa plantations. You will have the unique opportunity to engage in an organic chocolate-making workshop, where you'll be involved in the processes of extracting cocoa beans, roasting, and grinding them. Using the freshly processed cocoa, we'll prepare a traditional chocolate drink.
As we savor this rich beverage, a regional lunch will follow, featuring a popular dish known as "sancocho", made with chicken and farm-fresh ingredients.
After lunch, we will head into the village to enjoy a cup of authentic Colombian coffee in the main square. Our exploration will continue as we admire the colonial architecture exemplified by notable buildings like the Casa de la Cultura, home to a museum recognized as a National Heritage Site.
A visit to the Botanical Garden will allow us to unwind while taking a leisurely stroll, and we will also stop by the José María Cemetery, known as one of the most popular spots in Marsella.
Concluding our day, we will journey back to Manizales and return you to your hotel by 4:30 pm.
