Embark on a journey to a remarkable archaeological site where you will delve into the history of a Pre-Colombian civilization during the Taironaka Day Trip. Transport yourself to the 8th century and uncover the lifestyle of the Tairona people.

Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel, followed by a scenic one-hour drive to the Don Diego River. Once we arrive, a brief 15-minute walk will lead us to the Taironaka Archaeological Park, where you can wander through the remnants of the ancient Tayrona city.

As we traverse the trails, you will have the opportunity to explore the archaeological remains left by the Tairona civilization. The stone paths guide us toward the remnants of agricultural terraces, where we will pause to reflect on the lifestyle of the Tairona Indigenous people from the 8th century.

We will also visit a museum showcasing authentic pottery pieces. Following this, we’ll step into the breathtaking Taironaka Park. If conditions are favorable, we may encounter the Kogis, who trace their ancestry back to the Tairona. You will have some time to enjoy a refreshing swim in the Don Diego River.

While situated in the picturesque Taironaka Park, a traditional lunch will be served, featuring churrasco (grilled beef), fresh salad, and a choice of potatoes or rice with shrimp and tostones.

After our meal, we will make our way back to Santa Marta, where we will drop you off at your accommodation and bid farewell.
