Embark on a day trip to Shkodër and Krujë from Tirana, where you'll delve into the rich history of Albania by visiting the Rozafa Castle and the Skanderbeg Museum. Experience a journey through time!

Day Trip Overview

Your adventure begins with a pickup at your hotel in Tirana. From this point, we will initiate our day trip to Shkodër and Krujë, two cities steeped in historical significance. Excited? Let's set off!

Our first destination is Shkodër, a pivotal city in northern Albania, beautifully situated on a plateau beside the largest lake in the Balkans, with the stunning Albanian Alps as its backdrop.

Upon arrival, we’ll embark on a walking tour through Gjuhadol, a charming pedestrian zone adorned with Italian and Austrian influences, showcasing Shkodër's deep-rooted connections to these cultures.

Next, we’ll take a guided exploration of Rozafa Castle or Shkodër Castle, one of the city’s crown jewels. Within its walls, we’ll share stories spanning from the Illyrian times to its conquest by the Romans. Perched on a hillside, the castle also offers stunning panoramic views of the surroundings.

After concluding the castle visit, you’ll enjoy approximately 2 hours of free time to further discover the city. We suggest checking out the Marubi Museum, which features a collection of vintage prints, or sampling local delights such as pickled specialties and cheeses.

Following our time in Shkodër, we will travel to Krujë, where the monumental Fortress of Krujë stands as a symbol of Albanian resistance against the Ottoman Empire during Skanderbeg's rebellion. As we tour this remarkable site, you will gain insights into this critical moment in history.

We’ll then visit the Skanderbeg Museum, dedicated to Albania's national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu. The museum's design reflects traditional Albanian stone towers and medieval Romanesque architecture. Here, you will learn more about Skënderbeu’s extraordinary life and military achievements.

Before concluding the day, we will stop at the iconic Old Bazaar Krujë, where you’ll have 30 minutes to purchase traditional artisanal crafts. Afterward, we will begin our journey back to Tirana.

Our day will formally close as we return to the starting point, wrapping up this captivating 9-hour excursion.
