Shuttle Service to the DC3 Plane Wreck

We will gather at the Sólheimasandur Beach parking area at the designated time. From this meeting point, our shuttle will transport you to the vicinity of the DC3. Prepare to uncover one of the most remarkable and storied locations in Iceland!

After a brief 15-minute journey, you'll reach the site of the DC3 Plane Wreck. This aircraft was involved in a routine flight from Höfn to Stokksnes in 1973, but due to heavy icing, it was forced to make an emergency landing on the icy terrain of Sólheimasandur.

Fortunately, there were no casualties resulting from the incident. Since then, the wreck has become a famous attraction for those visiting Iceland. Upon arrival, you will have ample time to approach the plane and capture numerous photographs.

After exploring the area and unraveling the enigma surrounding the abandoned aircraft, you'll return to the shuttle for the ride back to your original location.

Schedule

The shuttle runs a round-trip service between Vík and the DC3 Plane Wreck from 10 am to 5 pm. You are welcome to linger at the crash site for as long as you desire, provided it falls within these operational hours.
