Itinerary
We will start our journey by picking you up from your hotel or the port in Alexandria, depending on your location. Our first destination is the Qaitbay Citadel, a majestic fortress overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, built on the site of the legendary Lighthouse of Alexandria. Following its destruction by earthquakes, the remains were repurposed in the 15th century to construct the Qaitbay fortress, named after the sultan who commissioned its building.
Next, we will proceed to the Kom el Shoqafa catacombs, where you will explore the fascinating tunnels and galleries of this Roman necropolis. Marvel at its remarkable reliefs that uniquely blend Egyptian and Greco-Roman styles. Exiting the catacombs, we will visit a nearby archaeological site featuring Pompey's Pillar, one of the last remnants of the old temple dedicated to the god Serapis.
After exploring, we will take a break to recharge with lunch on the banks of the Mediterranean, enjoying Alexandrian specialties such as fish and rice with seafood. Following lunch, our tour will continue to the New Alexandria Library, a modern tribute to the ancient library, which once housed one of the most significant collections of papyrus in history.
Upon completing the guided tour of Alexandria, we will return you to your hotel or the port.
Pick up Point
We provide pick up from your hotel or, for those arriving by cruise ship, from the port. Simply indicate your preferred pick-up location when making your reservation.
Alexandria's Library
Please note that Alexandria's New Library is closed on Friday and Saturday. If you book for these days, we will instead visit the Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi Mosque and the cornice.
The visit to Alexandria's Library will be conducted with an official guide from the institution who speaks English, French, and Arabic.
Children under 12 are not permitted to visit the Alexandria Library; however, they can enjoy a visit to the Children's Museum.
