Guadalest, Altea & Fuentes del Algar Day Trip
Description
On this day excursion to Guadalest, Altea, and Fuentes del Alga, you will uncover the allure of these treasures within the Valencian Community. It's an experience not to be missed!
Details of the Day Trip
We will gather at the scheduled time at the Exhibition Room of La Lonja del Pescado (Sala d'Exposició de la Llonja del Peix), where we will board our bus heading to Guadalest. This journey of approximately 60 km (37 mi) takes us away from the stunning blue waters of the Mediterranean.
After roughly an hour on the road, we will reach Fuentes del Algar, an enchanting natural site featuring impressive waterfalls and a rich biodiversity. The springs of Algar are recognized as a Protected Wetland Area due to the significant environmental value of the region. Here, you will enjoy some free time to take a refreshing swim in the springs or simply soak in the surroundings.
Next, we will proceed to the picturesque medieval village of Guadalest, where a guided tour awaits. You will have the opportunity to explore its most notable landmarks and learn about the history of San José Castle, a fortress enveloped by mountains that provide breathtaking views. Additionally, we will admire the baroque church and visit the Town Hall Square.
Despite its modest size, Guadalest boasts several fascinating exhibitions, including the Museum of Microminiatures, the Microgiant Museum, the Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum, and the Ethnological Museum. You will have the opportunity to explore these highlights during your free time.
After our time in Guadalest, we will return to the bus and, in just thirty minutes, we will arrive at Altea. Here, a tour through the narrow, cobbled streets of the historical center awaits us. You will appreciate the iconic white houses adorned with floral balconies, along with the Consuelo Church, known for its distinctive dome visible from many points throughout Altea.
When the walking tour concludes, you will have some free time to further explore the town’s viewpoints, stroll along the beach, or savor the local cuisine at seaside restaurants. A perfect way to unwind!
Following an enriching 11-hour day, we will return to our original departure point in Alicante.
