Discover an extraordinary ecosystem filled with unique wildlife and flora by joining the Jari Canal Tour. Departing from Alter do Chão, we will journey deep into a protected area of the stunning Amazon Rainforest.

Jari Canal Tour

We invite you to explore the natural divide between the Amazon River and the Tapajós! Our meeting point is the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão at 9 am. After guests gather, we will board our boat positioned just steps away and embark on an adventure to the spectacular Jari Canal nature reserve.

Our voyage begins as we cross Verde Lake, leading us to the mystical Enchanted Forest, where a 40-minute canoe ride awaits. Next, we will visit Ilha do Amor (Love Island), take in the views of Morro da Piraoca, and navigate through Piranhas Lake—where you'll want to remain cautious of its namesakes! A refreshing dip in the waters near Ponta do Cururu will follow.

Upon reaching Moça Beach, we'll enjoy some fresh fruit as a quick snack before proceeding to Crocodile Lake. Following this, there will be a one-hour break for lunch in Ponta de Pedras. After you've enjoyed your meal, we will arrive at the magnificent Jari Canal, a habitat abundant with giant Victoria Amazonica, iguanas, and a multitude of parrots—stay watchful for alligators along the banks!

As we commence our return to Alter do Chão, we will be treated to a breathtaking sunset over the Amazon. Our drop-off will be back at the meeting point by 7 pm.

The boat

The vessel designated for this activity features four distinct areas and comes equipped with all necessary gear for kayaking and paddleboarding. Additionally, guests will enjoy a barbecue and music while on board.
