Tapajós National Forest Tour
Description
Embark on an adventure through the Brazilian rainforest, where you will encounter fascinating wildlife during our 1 or 2-day excursion to the Tapajós National Forest. Experience the stunning scenery as you navigate through serene lakes and pristine beaches.
Tapajós National Forest Tour
The journey begins at 9 am at the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão. After meeting, we'll board our boat to uncover the mesmerizing landscapes of the Tapajós National Forest.
Our first destination will be the picturesque Jacundá and Mureta Lakes, perfect for capturing memorable photographs. Following this, we will arrive at Pindobal Beach, where you'll hear about the fascinating history of rubber production and its significance within the Amazon. Our adventure continues as we reach the stunning shores of Cajutuba, offering you a chance to swim before heading onward to the striking dunes of Maguari.
Next, we will explore Jamaraquá, an area rich in wildlife, where you may spot sloths, alligators, and ancient trees. Amidst the vibrant foliage, we'll provide a variety of tropical fruits like pineapple, watermelon, and passion fruit. Later, we will visit local artisans to appreciate their Indigenous artwork. For those eager for exploration, an optional hike to view the Samauma tree is available.
As hunger sets in, a delicious lunch featuring fish, chicken, and other delightful options will be served. After your meal, take some time to recline in a hammock and soak in a serene sunset from a canoe on the river before we return to Alter do Chão by 7 pm.
2-day tour
If you choose the 2-day tour, you will experience camping deep within the Amazon Rainforest after enjoying a sunset. Following this, we'll gather around a campfire to savor a traditional piracaia meal. You'll spend the night under the stars, with the option to sleep either on the boat or in a traditional hut.
On the following day, we'll treat you to a hearty breakfast and take one final plunge at the idyllic Pindobal Beach before our return journey to Alter do Chão.
