Wadden Sea Cruise and Seal Safari
Description
Experience a half-day at sea where you can observe seals, porpoises, and various other wildlife in their natural habitat within the Wadden Sea, alongside a visit to the quaint town of Twisk.
Wadden Sea Cruise and Seal Safari
Your adventure begins at the Amsterdam River Cruise Dock, where you will board a vehicle taking you to the coast of the Wadden Sea. The 90-minute bus ride offers a glimpse of Holland's rural beauty, showcasing farms, charming villas, and the iconic windmills.
Upon arrival at the coast, we'll embark on a serene 3-hour boat trip on the Frisian Sea. This area is recognized for its unique coastal wetlands and tidal systems, serving as a sanctuary for numerous animals, particularly marine mammals such as seals and porpoises. Its significance is underscored by its designation as a World Heritage Site.
The Wadden Sea, designated as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, is an essential stopover point for millions of migratory birds. Notably, it is a tranquil sea with minimal wave activity. During our cruise, we will navigate the renowned levee between North Holland and Friesland, which serves to protect the lowlands against flooding.
The boat journey concludes back at the same harbor where we departed. Once on land, we will meander through the picturesque 17th-century village of Twisk. Here, you will have free time to wander the charming narrow streets, visit the windmill, explore the brewery, admire the castle, shop, or enjoy a meal.
Finally, we’ll embark on our return drive to Amsterdam, concluding our 6-hour trip together.
