Coastal Classic Train Between Anchorage & Seward
Description
If you are planning to explore the coastline of Alaska, consider reserving your spots on the Coastal Classic Train, the railway that links Anchorage to Seward through the stunning Turnagain Arm.
Coastal Classic Train: Journey Along the Alaska Coastline
This route has been recognized by National Geographic Traveler as one of the most scenic train rides in Alaska.
Your adventure commences at the Anchorage Depot, where you will embark on a unique route that showcases glaciers, steep river canyons, and picturesque waterfalls—truly a visual feast!
As you proceed, you will follow the dramatic coastline of Turnagain Arm, a slender inlet situated in the Gulf of Alaska to the south of Anchorage. This area is one of the two arms that delineate the Kenai Peninsula from the mainland and was named by British explorer James Cook in 1778 during his quest for the Northwest Passage. Upon entering the inlet and discovering it was a dead end, he had to make a turn again.
After an experience lasting 4 hours and 35 minutes, you will find yourself in the quaint port town of Seward. Here, you can immerse yourself in a variety of outdoor pursuits at your leisure, such as a glacier trekking experience in Kenai Fjords National Park at ]] or rafting down the Resurrection River at [[LINK_1]]]].
During the summer season, the Coastal Classic Train operates daily return trips, making it a perfect choice for cruise travelers arriving in Anchorage who wish to see Seward while traversing some of the most breathtaking scenery along the Alaskan coast.
