Complimentary Tour of Ancud
At the scheduled time, we'll gather at Arturo Prat 112 to embark on this complimentary journey through Ancud. Let’s immerse ourselves in the story of the former capital of the Chiloé province!
We will commence our adventure in the Plaza de Armas, where the foundation of this city, established by Spanish colonizers over four centuries ago, will be unveiled. Here, we will also encounter various mythological sculptures, bringing to light some intriguing aspects of Chilean folklore.
Our exploration will lead us to the Cathedral of Ancud, which was erected at the close of the 20th century, replacing its predecessor that succumbed to a devastating earthquake in 1960. We will continue to deepen our understanding of the city’s spiritual heritage by visiting the Museum of the Churches of Chiloé.
Next, we will make our way to the local market, a vibrant hub of fresh fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and handcrafted goods. Our stroll will then bring us to the historical San Antonio Fort, constructed under the orders of Carlos III to safeguard the region. Here, we will discuss the intriguing tale of how Chiloé's independence unfolded, a captivating episode in the annals of Ancud.
