Terceira Whale Watching

We'll meet at the agreed time at the Angra do Heroísmo marina, to begin our boat tour around the coast of Terceira island. As we sail the Atlantic ocean, we'll enjoy incredible views of the island from the boat.

You'll have the opportunity to see whales in their natural habitat. The strategic position of the Azores between Europe and America means the islands are an important stop-off point for the whales which migrate at different times of the year. In summer, it's common to see pilot whales, whilst during spring and autumn, blue whales, the largest animal on earth, are more frequently observed.

During the tour, we'll also learn about the surprising characteristics of these protected mammals, highlighting the importance of caring for the environment and preserving the biodiversity of Terceira. If we're lucky, we might see some friendly dolphins which share the waters of the island with their larger cousins.

After 3 hours of sailing, we'll return to the starting point.

How does it work?

In this tour, you will board a boat at Angra do Heroísmo marina to explore the diverse marine life around Terceira Island. The tour lasts approximately 3 hours, with a scheduled return to the marina. Keep in mind that while sightings of whales are common, these are wild animals, and their presence is unpredictable.
