Details of the Day Trip

Your adventure begins with pickup from your accommodation in Arequipa. Following a scenic 3-hour bus ride through southern Peru, we will arrive in Chivay. Nestled at over 3000 meters (9800 feet) above sea level, we'll pause for a delicious breakfast that includes bread accompanied by butter and jam, with options for juice, coffee, or tea to energize your morning.

Post-breakfast, our journey takes us to the town of Yanque, and from there, we proceed to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint. Along the way, a brief hike is available for those interested. Upon arrival at the viewpoint, the grandeur of the Colca Canyon will unfold before you. Did you know it ranks as one of the world's deepest canyons? Keep an eye out for Andean condors, as this region is ideal for observing these magnificent birds in flight.

Following our time at the viewpoint, we'll explore additional villages and lookout points throughout the Colca Valley, including Wayrapunko and Antahuillque. Our next stop will be the Chacapi hot springs, where you can unwind in the natural pools for an hour.

After your refreshing soak, we’ll proceed to a local restaurant to savor traditional dishes and regional products. Finally, we will journey on to Puno, our concluding destination.

Along the way, we will take a restorative break at the Patapampa viewpoint, showcasing the remarkable Ampato and Sabancaya volcanoes. We'll also visit the Salinas Reserve and Lagunillas, where you can potentially spot herds of camelids or flocks of wild birds that inhabit these beautiful landscapes.

The day concludes in the historic center of Puno, marking the end of this extensive 17-hour experience.
