Delve into the picturesque landscapes of the Colca Valley while discovering the charm of traditional villages, including Chivay and Coporaque, on this immersive 3-day journey. Your adventure also leads you into the depths of Colca Canyon.

3-Day Tour of the Colca Valley

Day 1: Arequipa – Chivay – Hot Springs – Chivay

Embark on your journey as we depart from Arequipa at 7:30 am towards Chivay. En route, we will glide along the contours of the Chachani Volcano and take a brief 15-minute pause at the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve. This location offers an excellent opportunity to observe vicuñas in their natural setting and appreciate the striking rock formations contributed by the Andean village of Pata Wasi.

Following that, we will enjoy a cup of coca tea while soaking in the magnificent vistas of the Colca Valley from the height of the Volcanoes Viewpoint, perched at an impressive 15,748 feet (4,800 meters) above sea level. Upon arriving in Chivay, we’ll explore the central square and then travel to the village of Coporaque for a delightful local lunch.

The day continues with a visit to the La Calera Hot Springs, where you may choose to unwind in the thermal waters, taking advantage of their renowned medicinal properties.

We’ll conclude our first day returning to Chivay for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Chivay – Colca Canyon – Chivay

Start your morning at 5:30 am with breakfast before heading to the famed Colca Canyon, one of the most profound canyons globally. Marvel at the awe-inspiring views from the Cruz del Condor Viewpoint.

During our exploration of the Colca Valley, we’ll stop by the villages of Pinchollo, Maca, and Yanque, where colonial churches and lookout points provide stunning perspectives of this Andean jewel.

In the noon hours, we will make our way back to Chivay, leaving you the afternoon to wander and discover the town at your leisure.

Day 3: Chivay – Coporaque – Arequipa

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, we’ll head to Coporaque for an authentic experience with a local family. You will assist the village farmers as they engage in morning activities—prepare to sow, harvest, and work the land while enjoying stunning views of the valley!

Following our immersion, we’ll return to Chivay to collect our belongings. Our journey back to Arequipa will conclude, with farewells given around 5 pm.

Accommodation

This tour includes two nights of lodging in Chivay, potentially at either the Colca Llacta hotel or Hotel Casa Andina Colca, subject to availability.

Admission Fees

Please note that entry to the La Calera Hot Springs is not included in the tour price. Access to the hot springs costs 15 Peruvian soles per person (approximately 4 euros).

Additionally, participation in the cultural activity in Coporaque is not encompassed within the package. A fee of 90 Peruvian soles per person (around 25 euros) will be required, payable to the host family on the day.

Pickup Information

This experience includes pickup from hotels in Arequipa. If your accommodation is outside the vicinity of the Plaza de Armas in Arequipa, it will be necessary for you to make your way to the designated meeting point at the scheduled time.
