3-Day Tour of Colca Valley

Day 1: Arequipa – Chivay – Hot Springs - Chivay

Your journey begins with an early departure from Arequipa at 7:30 am as we make our way to Chivay. The route winds around the Chachani Volcano, with a brief stop at the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve to observe vicuñas in their natural environment and marvel at the impressive rock formations near the Andean community of Pata Wasi.

A refreshing coca tea awaits before we reach the Mirador de los Volcanes, located at an astonishing 4,800 meters (15,748 ft), where you can take in panoramic views of the Colca Valley. Upon arrival in Chivay, you’ll have the chance to explore the main square and enjoy lunch at your leisure.

As the afternoon unfolds, we’ll journey to the renowned Chivay hot springs, where you can unwind in soothing waters known for their therapeutic benefits. Our first day culminates with an overnight stay in Chivay.

Day 2: Chivay – Colca Canyon – Chivay

Rise and shine! After breakfast at 5:30 am, we will head to Colca Canyon, celebrated as one of the deepest canyons on the globe. Here, breathtaking vistas await at the Cruz del Condor Viewpoint.

As we delve deeper into the Colca Valley, visits to the picturesque villages of Pinchollo, Maca, and Yanque will reveal colonial churches and scenic viewpoints, providing captivating perspectives of this magnificent Andean region.

Following a midday return to Chivay, the afternoon remains free for you to wander and discover more about the local culture and sights.

Day 3: Chivay – Coporaque – Arequipa

After breakfast at the hotel, we'll journey to Coporaque, where you will engage in a unique, hands-on experience with a local family. Spend the morning assisting village farmers with their seasonal activities—whether planting, harvesting, or preparing the land for farming—all while surrounded by the picturesque valley backdrop.

We will then return to Chivay to gather your belongings before commencing the journey back to Arequipa, concluding the tour around 5 pm.

Accommodation

The tour includes two nights of accommodation in Chivay, at reputable locations such as Colca Llaqta Hotel or Casa Andina Standard, among others.

Admission to Attractions

Entry to the La Calera Hot Springs is not included; if you wish to relax here, a fee of 15 Peruvian soles (approximately 4 euros) is required. Additionally, participation in the cultural immersion experience in Coporaque is subject to a 90 Peruvian soles fee per person on the day of the event (around 25 euros).

Pickup

This tour provides pickup from hotels in Arequipa. If your accommodation is not located around the Plaza de Armas, please make your way to the plaza at the designated time.
