Experience a captivating 3-day journey through the breathtaking landscapes of the Cotahuasi Canyon, the scenic Majes and Huaynacotas Valleys, and the majestic Coropuna and Solimana Volcanoes. Additionally, enjoy the rejuvenating properties found in the waters of the Luicho Thermal Baths.

Three-Day Excursion to Cotahuasi Canyon

Day 1

Embark on an exciting adventure with us! We will start our day with a pickup from your hotel at 5:30 am and travel towards the Majes Valley, located approximately two hours from Arequipa. A comforting breakfast awaits, featuring coffee, juice, assorted bread, eggs, butter, and jam.

This valley is home to an enchanting tourist attraction: the Querulpa Jurassic Park, where you can observe authentic dinosaur footprints. After exploring the park, we will continue to Toro Muerto, renowned for its fascinating petroglyphs, showcasing local rock art.

Next, we will pause in Chuquibamba for a delightful lunch comprising meat stew, pasta, and soup. Following our meal, we will embark on a challenging four-hour ascent to the mountain pass nestled between the Coropuna and Solimana Volcanoes. From there, we will descend into the Cotahuasi Canyon, also dubbed the Canyon of Wonders. It holds the distinction of being one of the deepest canyons globally.

After soaking in the stunning vistas, we will make our way to a nearby village for dinner, which will include soup, rice with vegetables, and a hot beverage. You’ll be welcomed into a local family's home for an authentic overnight experience.

Day 2

On the second day, our journey will take us to Taurisma. We will spend approximately 30 minutes exploring this quaint village with its broom bush forests, suspension bridges, and archaeological sites. Our next stop will be Tomepampa, where a 3-hour hike will lead us through picturesque Andean villages like Huaynacotas. We will finally arrive at the renowned Luicho Thermal Baths, where you'll enjoy 30 minutes of free time to immerse yourself in the revitalizing waters – the ideal way to unwind after the hike!

After a rejuvenating soak, we will return to Cotahuasi for a restful night in our accommodations.

Day 3

The final day commences with a scenic hike along the banks of the Cotahuasi River. We will trace the river's path until arriving at a narrow point measuring just 16 feet (5 meters) across, where it cascades down from a height of 491 feet (150 meters) at the stunning Sipia Waterfall. We will take an hour to admire the magnificent waterfall as we explore the scenic area around it. At the end of our trek, we will encounter the iconic Cunyac Bridge, a popular spot among bungee jumping enthusiasts.

Upon reaching the bridge, a bus will be ready to transport us back to Cotahuasi. We will enjoy lunch before making our way back to your hotel in Arequipa, aiming for an arrival time around 8 pm.
