7-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Trek

The Marangu Route is recognized as the quickest and most accessible option to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro, offering camps equipped with running water and solar energy at various points along the way.

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Upon your arrival, our team will greet you at the airport and transport you to the hotel in Arusha. Here, you can relax and soak in the surrounding scenery. Utilize this time for rest or to explore your surroundings prior to embarking on this remarkable journey.

Day 2: Arusha to Marangu Gate

After enjoying a nourishing breakfast, we convene with the guides for the Marangu route to review the details of the upcoming expedition. We depart the hotel and set off towards Marangu Gate, the starting point for the eastern ascent of Kilimanjaro.

During the 8 km (5 mi) trek, you might spot colobus monkeys and traverse through eucalyptus forests. We will take a midday break for lunch before continuing to the Mandara Huts camp, where we'll enjoy dinner and rest for the night.

Day 3: Marangu Gate to Mawenzi and Kibo Volcanoes

After breakfast, we leave the campsite and hike for approximately one hour through serene clearings until we reach a trail adorned with heather, shrubs, and towering lobelias. A lunch break awaits midway, allowing us to appreciate views of the Mawenzi volcano.

After covering 11 km (7 mi), we will arrive at the Horombo Huts camp, where the magnificent Kibo volcano comes into view. Here, we'll have dinner and rest to prepare for the next day.

Day 4: Mawenzi and Kibo Volcanoes

The day begins with the preparation of hiking gear as we tackle day three of our journey. Traversing trails lined with heather, we reach the port connecting Kilimanjaro with the inactive volcanoes, Mawenzi and Kibo.

We’ll take some time to enjoy the stunning vistas of the volcanoes, followed by lunch before proceeding towards the Kibo summit. We will trek through arid landscapes for several hours until we reach the peak, where we can savor breathtaking views.

Our overnight stay will be at the Kibo Huts camp, which does not have running water facilities.

Day 5: Kibo Volcano to Uhuru Peak

On this day, we rise at midnight to benefit from the cooler night temperatures as we ascend towards the Uhuru peak, the pinnacle of Kilimanjaro and all of Africa. The journey covers four kilometers (2 miles), with a stop at Gilman's Point to marvel at the crater's ice formations.

As we approach the summit, the dawn light will unveil the sky, allowing us to witness the sunrise from an elevation of 5895 m (19000 ft)! We'll take a moment to capture the stunning views and revel in the achievement of standing at Africa's highest point. Our descent will lead us back through the Alpine desert to Kibo Huts.

After dinner at the camp, we’ll rest before resuming our journey to Horombo Huts for overnight accommodation.

Day 6: Uhuru Peak to Mandara Gate and Return to Arusha

The sixth day marks the start of our descent from Kilimanjaro. We will navigate through moorland until we reach Mandara Huts for lunch.

Continuing our descent for approximately three kilometers (2 miles), we will arrive at Mandara Gate, where transportation will take us back to the hotel in Arusha for some well-earned rest. Thus concludes our adventure!

Day 7: Departure from Arusha

We will enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading back to the airport.
