How to Discover Hobbiton in New Zealand?

At the scheduled time, a minibus will pick you up from your accommodation in central Auckland, embarking on a journey through the captivating New Zealand countryside towards Matamata, the site of Hobbiton.

After approximately 2.5 hours on the road, we will reach the enchanting area known as The Shire™. Accompanied by a guide knowledgeable about The Lord of the Rings, you will uncover the intriguing stories behind the creation of this iconic film. Ever wondered how Peter Jackson discovered this spot?

Throughout the adventure, you'll learn various behind-the-scenes details of these beloved films and gain insights about key characters from the series, including Frodo, Bilbo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Pippin Took, and Meriadoc Brandybuck.

During the exploration, you’ll have the chance to see the remarkable Hobbit Holes™ and even Gandalf’s cart. Be prepared to capture countless photographs! You will also be invited to step inside the renowned Green Dragon Inn, where you can savor a refreshing hobbit beer.

Following this fascinating visit to Hobbiton, we will return to the minibus and make our way back to Auckland. Expect to be back at your hotel within 8.5 to 9 hours from the beginning of the experience.
