Description
This journey to Huatuscalla invites you to explore stunning landscapes of valleys, basins, and ravines adorned with unique Andean flora, complemented by a stop in Huanta for sampling its fine liquors.
Excursion to Huatuscalla & Huanta
Our adventure begins at 9:15 am at the Plaza de Armas, the central square in Ayacucho, setting the stage for a day immersed in peaceful, natural surroundings.
We will first journey towards the Huatuscalla canyon, one of the highest regions in the Luricocha district. Upon arrival, prepare to be captivated by the breathtaking vistas of valleys, basins, and gorges. Reaching the town of Huatuscalla, situated at 3,060 meters above sea level, we will embark on a 30-minute hike up a gentle incline to the Huatuscalla viewpoint.
Here, you will be rewarded with an incredible panoramic view showcasing the meeting of the Huarpa and Cachi rivers, which converge to create the Mantaro River. After capturing memorable photographs of this natural wonder, we will proceed into the town where you will have free time for lunch on your own.
Following our lunch break, we will board the bus to visit the city of Huanta, renowned as the Emerald of the Andes. On this tour, we will admire the town’s significant landmarks, including the Matriz Church, the Municipal Palace, and various archaeological sites and ruins. To conclude our visit, we will indulge in a delightful tasting of huanteño liquors.
We will end our excursion by returning to Ayacucho, with an anticipated drop-off at the meeting point around 5 pm.
