Cotopaxi Volcano Expedition

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Baños de Agua Santa around 7 to 8 am, as we embark towards Cotopaxi province. During the journey, breathtaking views of the region’s majestic volcanoes, including Chimborazo, Los Altares, Tungurahua, Illinizas, and Ruminahui, will captivate your senses.

After a two-and-a-half-hour journey, we will arrive at Cotopaxi National Park, where the ascent commences. Did you know that Cotopaxi is regarded as the most active volcano in Ecuador? It also ranks among the tallest active volcanoes across the globe!

Our first stop will be the Cotopaxi Museum, where you can gain insights into the volcano's previous eruptions as well as the local flora and fauna. Following this, we will head to the Limpiopungo Lagoon to capture some breathtaking photographs.

From the lagoon, we will trek along a trail leading to one of the park’s refuges, where we will pause for lunch. After replenishing our energy, we will continue our ascent to an altitude of 5,000 meters, reaching the highest point of our journey at the commencement of the glacier atop the volcano.

After exploring the breathtaking surroundings, we will begin our descent back down to the base of Cotopaxi. The excursion will wrap up with our return to your hotel at approximately 4 pm.
