Santuario Degli Uccelli Hiking Tour

Tour Overview

Our meeting point will be the Bacoli coastline at the arranged time, specifically at the Shopping Area on Via Miseno, where we will commence our hike along the  Santuario degli Uccelli trail.

Our first stop will be the slopes of the ancient Miseno crater, which is believed to have formed between 10,000 and 25,000 years ago. The unique geology here has fostered the presence of numerous bird species, making this region a genuine sanctuary for wildlife, which is reflected in its name. Keep your eyes peeled as we explore, as seagulls may be seen returning to their nests.

Continuing further along this historic route, we'll be surrounded by Mediterranean oak trees and lush vegetation. This leg of the trek offers breathtaking views of Monte di Procida, where remnants of the ancient Archiflegrean Volcano can still be observed.

Upon reaching our highest vantage point, you'll be greeted by a panoramic vista of the Pozzuoli Gulf along with the islands of Ischia, Capri, and Procida. If you glance towards the horizon, you might even catch a glimpse of the Miseno Lighthouse. Remember to take a moment to capture these views!

From there, we will begin our descent through a trail that winds through the crater's interior, leading us close to the Cape Miseno Lighthouse. Following a two-hour hike, our exploration will conclude at this beautiful landmark.
