Excursion to the Larimar Mines

The journey begins with a convenient pickup from your accommodation in Barahona, setting the stage for our visit to the exclusive Larimar Mines. Discovered in 1974, this mine is renowned as the sole source globally for this gemstone.

Traveling in a 4x4 vehicle, we will ascend into the Bahoruco mountain range for approximately an hour, ultimately arriving at the mining site where the striking turquoise gemstone is retrieved. According to local beliefs, possessing this stone grants a life free from stress and burdens!

During our exploration of the mine’s landscapes, a visit to a larimar workshop awaits us, where local artisans skillfully craft the gemstone right at home. This presents an excellent chance to purchase a unique souvenir to take back home!

After this, we will travel to Paraiso Beach, where a delightful traditional lunch awaits, all enjoyed amidst stunning seaside views. Once you have satisfied your palate, you'll have some leisure time to relax on the beach before we head back to Barahona.

Finally, we will return you to your hotel, concluding the experience about 4 hours after our initial pickup.
