Montserrat, Girona, & Coast Day Trip
Description
While in Barcelona, take the opportunity to explore two of Catalonia's exquisite gems on this day excursion to Montserrat and Girona. This journey includes a visit to the renowned monastery of the Virgin of Montserrat and a chance to discover the stunning Costa Brava.
Details of the Day Trip
We will gather at Carrer de Martí i Franquès, 21 at the designated time, setting off from Barcelona for an unforgettable experience.
A comfortable bus will transport us directly to Montserrat, which stands as Catalonia's most iconic mountain and is home to one of Spain's most celebrated monasteries. Upon arrival, a guided tour of the site will unveil its fascinating history and intriguing legends, including the popular belief that the Holy Grail resides here.
Our exploration of the Montserrat Abbey will lead us through its various chambers, allowing us to see the revered image of the Virgin of Montserrat and uncover the intertwining secrets of Napoleon’s forces and the Nazis connected to this site.
Following this visit, we will board our minibus and head to Girona. After our arrival, a guided exploration will introduce us to the picturesque city shaped by Romans, Arabs, and Jews, showcasing its unique contrasts.
Strolling through the medieval streets, we will make stops at key sites, including the Santa María Cathedral, the Old Fisheries Bridge, crafted by Gustav Eiffel, and the historic Jewish Quarter. We will also explore the Arabic Baths in Girona, an authentic historical site nestled between the Sant Feliu Church, the city wall, and the Cathedral.
After our time in Girona, you will enjoy an hour of leisure to savor a meal at one of the local establishments in the center. Subsequently, we will depart from the city and begin our journey along the stunning Costa Brava. To fully appreciate the coastal beauty, we will stop at the charming town of Tossa de Mar, where a brief guided tour will showcase its enchanting historic district.
At the conclusion of our enriching 11.5 hours together, we will return to Barcelona, concluding the tour at Avenida Diagonal.
