Description
Discover Montserrat, a key pilgrimage destination in Spain, followed by an enriching guided exploration of the Sagrada Familia, a true architectural gem by Gaudí.
Itinerary for the Montserrat & Sagrada Familia Combo Tour
Your journey will commence from the Estación de Francia at 8 am, as we make our way to Monserrat, known for its striking monastery perched on the mountain. Legend has it that the Holy Grail rests concealed within its remarkable cliffs.
Upon reaching this iconic location, a knowledgeable English-speaking guide will escort you into the Museo de Montserrat, which boasts an extensive Biblical archaeological collection featuring fascinating artifacts from the Middle East, allowing for an insightful glimpse into this historical period. Additionally, you will explore the Museum’s art collection spanning the thirteenth to twenty-first centuries, featuring masterpieces by illustrious artists such as Berruguete, El Greco, Caravaggio, Picasso, Dalí, and Tàpies, among others.
The next stop will be at Santa Maria de Montserrat, a Benedictine monastery atop Montserrat Mountain. A highlight of the Abbey is the Virgin of Montserrat (La Moreneta), a revered statue of the Madonna. To conclude your visit, partake in a sampling of various renowned liquors from Montserrat.
After this delightful experience, you will board the bus for a return journey to the Barcelona meeting point, where you’ll have some free time for lunch.
In the afternoon, reconvene with your guide at 3:15 pm for an immersive guided tour inside the Sagrada Familia. This modernist structure, crafted by the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, stands as the most breathtaking church in the city. Before entering, take a moment to appreciate the intricately designed Nativity Façade. Inside, marvel at the impressive altar, the nave's stunning ceiling, and the vibrant stained-glass windows.
