Camino Real Hike to the Chicamocha Canyon + Panachi Cable Car

Adrenaline and nature combine on this hiking route along the Camino Real to the Chicamocha Canyon. In addition, we'll go up the Panachi cable car to admire one of the best views of the area.

Activity Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Barichara and we'll head towards Villa Nueva, where we'll begin the Camino Real.

This trail, located in the department of Santander, is a route full of history offering beautiful views as we enter the jungle of the region. The first section of the route lasts approximately 3 hours until we reach the village of Jordán.

Along the cobblestone road, which dates back to pre-Columbian times, we'll share its history, constructed by the Guanes community. In Jordán, we'll have a typical lunch.

After lunch, we'll continue on the Camino Real towards the village of Los Santos, a 2-hour stretch featuring breathtaking scenery. There, we'll go to the Panachi cable car station in Chicamocha National Park.

We'll enjoy a cable car ride of approximately 45 minutes, covering 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) while taking in stunning views. Upon reaching the top, we'll visit the park highlights, such as its viewpoints and museum.

To conclude our experience, we'll begin the hike back to the departure point in Barichara, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 12 hours.
