Chimborazo Volcano Two-Day Hiking Expedition

Day 1

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Baños de Agua Santa between 7 and 8 am. Prior to our departure, the mountain guide will provide a detailed overview of the necessary hiking gear, including outer layers, boots, ropes, harnesses, crampons, and ice axes. We will then proceed towards Riobamba, marking the start of our ascent on the Chimborazo volcano.

Our first destination is a mountain refuge at an altitude of 4,800 meters, followed by another refuge at 5,000 meters. Here, we will enjoy a warm meal featuring soup, meat, and juice to recharge our energy. In the afternoon, participants will receive instruction on essential climbing techniques for the next day's journey.

Dinner will consist of either a meat or chicken dish accompanied by juice, after which we will rest until midnight.

Day 2

We rise at midnight to continue our ascent. Before embarking, we'll have a light snack with bread, fruits, and tea or coffee to energize ourselves. With refreshed spirits, we will begin our six-hour trek to the summit, reaching an altitude of 6,263 meters.

Upon arrival at the Chimborazo peak, we will have the opportunity to observe part of the glacier that adorns this towering summit while taking in the magnificent vistas of the Central Andes. The Inca civilization historically revered this mountain for rituals and sacrifices. After soaking in the breathtaking landscape, we will make our way back to the refuge.

Finally, we will descend to the base and take a bus ride back to Baños de Agua Santa, with an expected arrival at your hotel around 2 pm.

Lodging

This tour includes one night of accommodation at the Condor Cocha mountain refuge, in a shared room equipped with single beds.
