Forbidden City Tickets
Description
The Forbidden City ranks among the most iconic sites in Beijing. Here, visitors can delve into its historic significance as the former Chinese Imperial Palace and witness the largest collection of ancient wooden architecture globally.
The Forbidden City Experience
Acquiring tickets for the Forbidden City grants you access to an impressive palatial facility, which served as the seat of governance for 24 emperors from the Ming and Qing dynasties for over five centuries. This significant site spans more than 72 hectares and remained off-limits to the general public since its establishment in 1420.
Recognized as the largest and best-preserved ancient wooden structure worldwide, the Forbidden City consists of nearly 1,000 edifices and around 9,000 rooms. The architectural layout adheres strictly to the principles of Feng Shui and Chinese cosmology, featuring a symmetry that aligns along a north-south axis, with gleaming golden rooftops and vibrant red walls that symbolize wealth and prosperity.
During your exploration, you will have the chance to appreciate the Outer Court, which is designed for significant state functions and highlights the impressive Hall of Supreme Harmony. Additionally, the Inner Court houses the tranquil Imperial gardens and the private living areas for the emperor, empress, and their concubines.
This experience offers a genuine journey into the past, surrounded by grand courtyards, intricate dragon carvings, and the enduring mystery of Imperial China.
