Temple of the Lamas Tickets
Description
By securing your access to the Temple of the Lamas, commonly referred to as Yonghe Palace, you will enter one of the most vital Tibetan Buddhist sites worldwide.
Lama Temple: A Treasure of Buddhism in Beijing
The Yonghe Palace, or Temple of the Lamas, stands out in Beijing as a remarkable ensemble, recognized as the premier Tibetan Buddhist sanctuary beyond Tibet.
Your ticket grants you approximately 2 hours to navigate its revered courtyards, where the aroma of incense envelops the air, allowing you to appreciate the exquisite details of its pavilions.
A highlight of your visit should be the Wanfu Ge Pavilion, home to a grand sculpture of Maitreya, the future Buddha. This remarkable statue stands 18 meters (59 ft) tall and was carved from a single block of sandalwood. Truly a spectacle!
This sanctuary, intricately connected to the 17th century, was originally constructed for Prince Yongzhen and subsequently transformed into an important monastery for Lama monks. You are welcome to wander through its traditional structures, including the renowned incense burners where visitors honor their beliefs by placing incense sticks.
