Description
Are you curious to delve into the architectural characteristics of communist-era Belgrade? Join us at 11 am on Maršala Birjuzova for an enlightening electric scooter adventure that places Tito's Yugoslavia and the Brutalist movement at the forefront.
As we roll through the city, we will revisit the historical context of Belgrade during World War II, when the Serbian capital was part of Yugoslavia and led by Josip Broz Tito. Our ride will include compelling narratives about the historical significance of this period and the impact of the political climate on architectural developments in the city.
We will explore the distinctive features of the brutalist architectural style in Belgrade, known for its prominent use of concrete, industrial elements, and rigid geometric forms.
Key sites such as the Genex Tower, SIV 3 building, Belgrade Police Station, Serbian Palace, and the Contemporary Art Museum will be highlights of our journey.
After a 4-hour exploration steeped in the history of communist architecture in Belgrade, we will conclude our tour back at the initial meeting point.
