Embark on a distinct adventure with the Maestrazgo Mining Park & Culla Day Trip departing from Benicassim. This excursion invites you to explore two historic mining sites and wander through Culla, celebrated as one of the most picturesque villages within Castellón province.

Your journey begins at 8:55 am at the Benicassim Tourist Office. From there, we will make our way to the Maestrazgo Mining Park via minibus. This exceptional destination features a network of subterranean galleries extending to depths of 2,600 feet (800 meters) and provides breathtaking vistas of the Upper Maestrazgo region.

We will spend two hours exploring the Victoria and Esperanza mines, two historical underground sites. A train will transport us to the entrance of the Victoria mine, where we will don safety helmets and prepare to navigate these intricate subterranean pathways.

Curious about the techniques miners employed centuries ago? What kinds of tools were at their disposal? What minerals did they seek? These queries will be addressed by a knowledgeable guide along with informational videos. Visitors will also have the opportunity to view the original mining carts, various period implements, and observe the geological formations of the mine galleries closely.

After our exploration of the Victoria mine concludes, we will board the train again and proceed to the Esperanza mine, where we will appreciate its natural wonders while learning about the miners’ endeavors.

Next, we will travel to Culla to explore the Temple Route, a blend of nature and rich history. As we stroll through the village's historic district, recognized as an Asset of Cultural Interest, we will delve into the diverse cultures that have influenced its cobbled lanes. The itinerary also includes a visit to the 11th-century castle, the granary of the Knight Commander, and the old hospital.

Concluding our day, we will make our way back to Benicassim, with an anticipated arrival time of 1:40 pm.
