Excursion to Potsdam & Sachsenhausen
We will convene at the World Time Clock in Alexanderplatz at the designated meeting time. From there, we will board our comfortable bus and commence our compelling day trip from Berlin.
The adventure begins with a scenic tour showcasing the major landmarks of the German capital. Following this, we will proceed to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp.
Upon arrival, you'll partake in a guided exploration aimed at uncovering the historical significance of concentration camps during the Nazi era. The tour will include visits to the courtyards, barracks, and cells, providing insights into the daily lives of prisoners and the harsh conditions they endured.
Once our time in Sachsenhausen concludes, we will journey to Potsdam, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you will enjoy a guided tour of the city, taking in the exterior of Sanssouci Palace and its stunning gardens. Following this, you will have a one-hour window for lunch and personal exploration of the area.
At the end of the day, we will return to Berlin, bringing to a close a comprehensive 7-hour experience.
Potsdam Excursion Focused on Sachsenhausen
For those specifically interested in an in-depth visit to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, consider this specialized tour option.
Beginning from the heart of Berlin, we will travel by a comfortable bus to Sachsenhausen, where a 2-hour guided tour awaits. Highlights of this visit will include significant locations like the central courtyard, Tower A, the barracks numbered 38 and 39, the kitchen, Tower E, the prison, and the gas chamber.
Post tour at Sachsenhausen, we will make our way to the East Side Gallery. This journey will allow you to admire the vibrant graffiti on the Berlin Wall, including the notable "The Kiss," while learning about the rich history surrounding this iconic segment of the city.
Concluding the experience in the lively neighborhood of Kreuzberg, located just south of central Berlin, this tour lasts approximately 4.5 hours. Afterward, you are free to explore additional nearby sites such as Checkpoint Charlie, the Jewish Museum Berlin, and the Topography of Terror.
