San Sebastián and Guetaria are two highlights you'll experience on this excursion along the Basque coastline. To enhance your journey, a visit to the Sanctuary of Loyola is included!

Tour Overview

Our adventure begins as we depart from Bilbao towards the scenic towns of San Sebastián and Guetaria. Our first stop is a 16th-century Basque farmhouse, which formerly served as a cider press, where you can learn about the history of this traditional beverage. You’ll have the chance to sample the authentic Basque apple juice, crafted using organic methods!

We will then make our way to San Sebastián, the capital of the Guipúzcoa region. Our journey in the city kicks off at the Igueldo Mountain viewpoint, offering stunning panoramic vistas of La Concha Beach.

Continuing into the historical center, we’ll embark on a guided walking tour to explore significant architectural landmarks. Afterward, you will be granted 1.5 hours of leisure time to enjoy lunch at one of the renowned pintxo bars.

With refreshed spirits, we’ll reconvene and journey onward to Guetaria, passing through the picturesque coastal town of Zarautz, known for its stunning scenery. Once we arrive in Guetaria, a guided exploration of the old town awaits, where you'll discover the traditional fishing port, the San Salvador church, and the monument dedicated to Juan Sebastián Elcano.

At last, we will start our journey back to Bilbao, concluding the day trip approximately nine hours after we began.

Option with Loyola Shrine Visit

Upon booking, you have the option to include a stop at the Loyola Sanctuary. In this case, our first destination will be this remarkable site, constructed between the 16th and 17th centuries. You'll explore its magnificent basilica and visit the birthplace of Ignatius of Loyola, a prominent figure in the region.

As we proceed through Azpeitia and along the coast past Zumaia, we will arrive at Guetaria. Here, you will have some free time to wander the historic center. Be sure to check out the Arco de Catrapona (a medieval passage located beneath a church), the Parish Church of San Salvador (an exquisite Gothic structure from the 15th century), and the fishing port featuring narrow streets lined with bars and traditional restaurants.

Continuing through Zarautz, a beautiful coastal locale, we will reach San Sebastián, celebrated as one of Spain's most picturesque cities. After a panoramic overview of the area, including sights such as La Concha beach and Mount Igueldo for the most captivating views of the bay, we will stroll through the historical district.

Once the tour concludes, you will have leisure time to indulge in the celebrated local cuisine. Your guide will gladly recommend various pintxo bars as well as fine dining options.

Following our time in the enchanting city of San Sebastián, we’ll commence our return to Bilbao after a fulfilling nine-hour experience.

The pickup location will vary based on the chosen tour option, as follows:

• Without visit to the Loyola Shrine: during the booking process, you can select between Hotel Meliá Bilbao or Sercotel Coliseo Bilbao for the meeting point.
• With visit to the Loyola Shrine: the meeting point is the bus stop located in front of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Tourist Office.
