Nocaima & La Vega Day Trip + El Bambú Panela Farm Tour

On this day excursion from Bogotá, experience the charm of Colombia's rural lifestyle as we visit the villages of Nocaima and La Vega, along with the notable El Bambú panela farm, to gain insights into traditional sugar cane farming.

Details of the Day Trip

A designated driver will meet you at your accommodation in Bogotá at the agreed time, initiating our journey to Nocaima and La Vega, two exquisite destinations nestled in the heart of Cundinamarca.

After approximately 1.5 hours on the road, we will reach Nocaima. Here, a local farming family will welcome us at the El Bambú farm. This region is renowned for its rich history of panela production, benefitting from an ideal climate and soil for sugar cane cultivation.

Our guides will lead us through the farm, explaining the various phases of sugar cane cultivation, covering everything from planting to harvesting. We will also discover the process of creating caña al trapiche, which involves crushing the sugar cane in a mill to extract the juice.

As part of this immersive experience, enjoy a breakfast featuring an arepa with scrambled eggs and a drink called guarapo, made from freshly extracted sugar cane juice. To conclude our visit, we will explore the house-museum, which houses various historical artifacts related to sugar cane farming.

At noon, we will head to the town center of Nocaima, where you'll have approximately one hour to enjoy lunch at your leisure.

After our time in Nocaima, we will regroup to continue our adventure towards La Vega, where a guided tour will take us through its charming streets. As we wander through this quaint village, surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the Colombian Central Mountain Range, you will enjoy captivating views.

Finally, we’ll make our way back to the starting location after an enriching total of about 9 hours of exploration.
