Food Tour Overview
We'll convene at the entrance of the Usaquén cemetery at the scheduled time to commence our gastronomic adventure in one of Bogotá's most enchanting locales. Are you prepared to explore the culinary treasures of Colombia?
Our journey will begin as we stroll along the neighborhood's charming cobbled streets, revealing its historical significance and the transformations of the diverse communities that have called this area home. Our initial stop will be a local fruit and vegetable shop, where you’ll learn about Colombia’s rich biodiversity and sample three exotic fruits that are perfect for tantalizing your taste buds.
Our next destination is the Abasto restaurant, which honors the town's market heritage. Here, you will savor exquisite traditional empanadas alongside a flavorful shrimp cocktail, both staples of Colombian cuisine.
Continuing on, we will make our way to the Plaza de Andrés, situated within the renowned Hacienda Santa Bárbara. In this vibrant setting, you'll enjoy a choclo arepa while gaining insight into its significance within Colombian culinary culture. Capture the moment with photographs and absorb the lively ambiance.
Next, we will visit the main square of Usaquén, where we will discuss the preservation of its Colonial architecture. From this point, we will proceed to Legado Cacao, where you can indulge in a sensory journey with Colombian chocolate and sample three distinct varieties.
Following this, we will dive into Colombia's coffee culture at Café San Alberto, a prestigious brand known nationally. Here, you’ll enjoy a cup of one of the finest coffees from the Coffee Axis, complemented by pan de yuca, a beloved Colombian snack.
As we conclude our food tour with a sweet treat, we will relish an oblea with arequipe, a popular dessert among the locals in Bogotá.
Lastly, we will stroll through the Usaquén Flea Market to discover handmade crafts and local products. Just a short walk away is the Usaquén Foundation Park, where we will wrap up our 3.5-hour culinary exploration of Usaquén.
