Since its inauguration in the summer of 1999, Les Bassins des Lumières has hosted extensive immersive digital exhibitions focusing on great historical artists, modern creations, and significant current themes, including comic book influences and space exploration. This venue stands as the largest digital art center worldwide, offering you an unmatched experience.
Within Les Bassins, you will encounter four impressive basins featuring a constant rotation of digital and immersive exhibits:
- The Immersive Citerne: A grand space covering 155 square meters (1,668 square feet) with 7-meter (23-foot) high ceilings, perfect for lying or sitting to gain a fresh perspective.
- The Cube: This area spans 220 square meters (2,368 square feet) and reaches 8 meters (26 feet) in height, showcasing works by contemporary immersive artists alongside exhibitions featuring established and up-and-coming digital creators.
- Large Mooring Buoys: Experience captivating images from temporary displays projected onto the reflective water surface.
- The Base Museum: Delve into the historical significance of the submarine base, uncovering its intriguing past.
You are welcome to linger at Les Bassins for as long as you desire, though most visitors typically take around an hour to fully appreciate the exhibits.

Matisse: A Symphony of Colors
This exhibition invites you to experience the vibrant universe of Henri Matisse. Here, you will revisit his artwork through a journey defined by color periods, showcasing pieces from the Blue Nudes to Fauvism, including highlights like the colorful canvas Luxe, Calme et Volupté (Luxury, Peace, and Pleasure).
Frida Kahlo: At the Very Heart

Les Bassins des Lumières welcomes visitors daily from 10 am to 7 pm, extending to 8 pm on Saturdays.
Important notice: On May 21 and 26, 2026, the site will open at 11 am.
The last admission is 1.5 hours prior to closing time.
