Description
Experience the culture and traditions of the Yorkín Indigenous Community on this enlightening tour departing from Bribri. This journey offers a remarkable way to delve deeper into the heart of Costa Rica!
Tour of the Yorkín Indigenous Community
The adventure begins at 9 am in Bambú, located within the beautiful Bribri Talamanca Indigenous Territory. Here, a community representative will greet us, sharing insights into their daily life, rich culture, and age-old traditions.
To kick off our exploration, we will embark on a canoe ride along the Yorkín River, a journey that lasts approximately one and a half hours. This is an ideal chance to observe the lush flora and fauna that inhabit this vibrant ecosystem.
Upon reaching the shore, a brief 15-minute hike will take us to our destination, where other community members will showcase their efforts in cultivating an organic farm and elaborate on the uses of various medicinal plants. We will also have the chance to visit the local school and residences of the inhabitants.
As part of this immersive experience, participants will savor a traditional meal featuring local Yorkín specialties. Following lunch, we will explore the nearby cocoa plantations and learn how to utilize a bow, the traditional hunting tool of the indigenous people.
