Amsterdam Day Trip + Rembrandt Hoeve Cheese Farm Tour
Description
Join us on this day trip to Amsterdam, where you will enjoy leisure time to explore the heart of the Dutch capital and witness the scenic beauty of the windmills. You'll also experience the charming Rembrandt Hoeve cheese and clog farm.
Details of the Day Trip
We will commence our journey at the agreed location on the Boulevard de Berlaimont, departing Brussels as we set off towards the captivating Netherlands. Prepare for an adventure!
As we transition into Dutch territory, you’ll begin to notice some striking contrasts compared to Belgium, such as its flat landscapes, iconic windmills, and the unique polders, areas of low-lying land adjacent to the sea.
Our first destination before reaching Amsterdam will be the Rembrandt Hoeve cheese and clog factory, located by the Amstel River. Here, we will partake in an enlightening tour lasting around 1 hour, during which you will discover the intricacies of Gouda cheese production and learn about the craft of making traditional wooden shoes. Curious about their comfort? You’ll have the chance to find out! Additionally, a tasting session featuring various cheeses from the farm awaits.
Don't forget your cameras! Following this, we’ll pause for a photo opportunity at the Riekermolen windmill. Get ready to capture the moment!
Upon arriving in the Dutch capital, we’ll pass by notable landmarks such as the National Bank and the renowned Heineken Brewery. Our next stop will be the Co-cathedral Basilica of Saint Nicholas, where we’ll embark on a 20-minute walk to appreciate sites like the Amsterdam Centraal station and the vibrant Dam Square, home to the impressive Royal Palace.
You will then enjoy a generous 3.5 hours of free time to indulge in dining, shopping, or taking a boat ride through Amsterdam's stunning canals. Before we conclude our visit, we’ll gather to start our return trip, which will lead us past enchanting floating houses and a replica of the Indias Orientales company's boat. Discover the intriguing story behind this remarkable vessel!
Along the journey back, we will also encounter the monument to Jewish victims and its associated museum, the acclaimed Artis Zoo, and the Science Museum, a masterpiece envisioned by the esteemed architect Renzo Piano.
Eventually, we will depart from Amsterdam and make our way back to Brussels, concluding our adventure at the Brussels-Central Railway Station, wrapping up around 12 hours after our departure.
