Day Trip to Antwerp and Ghent
Description
On this excursion from Brussels, you'll explore two of the most stunning cities located in the Flanders region of Belgium: Antwerp and Ghent.
Excursion to Antwerp and Ghent
We will gather outside Brussels Central Station at 8:30 and commence our bus journey towards the Flanders region in northern Belgium. Prior to departing from the capital, a brief stop will provide an opportunity to take in the iconic Atomium, a captivating structure constructed for the 1958 Brussels World Expo, which now stands as a national symbol. Are you curious about its construction?
Next, our journey will lead us to the historic center of Antwerp. As we walk through the remarkable monumental area along the River Scheldt, you will uncover the reasons why this city was dubbed "the city of the sinjoren" (lords) by the Spaniards, all while viewing the impressive Antwerp City Hall, adorned with the coat of arms of Philip II. We will also pass notable locations such as the bustling Meir shopping street and the ancient Steen Castle.
After our guided tour of Antwerp, you'll enjoy approximately an hour and a half of free time to have lunch and explore additional city landmarks. We suggest visiting the Cathedral of Our Lady, home to an extraordinary collection of masterpieces by the renowned Flemish Baroque artist Rubens.
At the designated time, we will reconvene and continue on to Ghent, known as the birthplace of Charles V. During our walking tour in the charming old town of Ghent, we'll visit the historic district which includes the Saint-Nicholas Church, Belfry, and Saint Bavo Cathedral. Moreover, we will meander along the picturesque Graslei, a charming quay situated on the River Lys, showcasing traditional Flemish architecture and houses.
The final stop will take us to the Gravensteen, the Castle of the Counts of Flanders. You will have an hour of free time to explore the surrounding old town. At the conclusion of the excursion, we will return you to Brussels, with an estimated arrival time around 6:30 pm.

For children under 2 years of age, it is required to have them travel in an infant seat on the bus. Please ensure you bring your own approved seat to facilitate their participation in the activity.
