Chacarita Cemetery Tour
Description
Embark on an insightful journey through the historical Chacarita Cemetery, where we will honor the legacies of monumental figures including Perón and Carlos Gardel.
Description
Your exploration of the Chacarita Cemetery will begin at the main entrance, where we will gather before delving into the rich history that this site encapsulates.
Initially, we will visit the pantheon of the Asociación Española de Socorros Mutuos, a remarkable replica of the monastery of El Escorial. From there, we will pay tribute at the mausoleums of well-known personalities such as the aviator Jorge Newbery, the criminalist José Gregorio Rossi, and the esteemed physician Adolfo Argerich.
A notable highlight will be our stop at the grave of Carlos Gardel, the iconic tango singer whose life was abruptly cut short in a plane accident in Medellin on June 24, 1935.
As we continue, we will uncover the intriguing history behind the ossuary of Chacarita Cemetery. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to see a stunning replica of Michelangelo's Pieta and pay respects at the resting places of musician Gustavo Cerati and guitarist José Betinotti. Throughout our walk, we will admire the exquisite funerary architecture present in the pantheons of the Military Army and the Galician Center.
As our two-hour journey approaches its conclusion, we will explore the myths surrounding a haunting sculpture of death. Our tour will wrap up at the Perón family pantheon, where an intriguing story awaits to finalize our experience.
