This complimentary exploration of the San Telmo area will commence at the entrance of the Franciscan Museum of Monseñor Fray José María Bottaro, located at Calle Adolfo Alsina, 400, adjacent to the Basilica of Saint Francis. Here, we will begin our adventure through some of the most significant sites in the neighborhood.
After appreciating the Basilica, our next stop will be the Church of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, where we'll uncover the captivating Jesuit history of Buenos Aires.
We will then visit the Casa de Rosas, a historic landmark, and proceed to the Convent of Saint Dominic, which houses the Mausoleum of Manuel Belgrano, a restored monument of great importance.
Next, we will see the renowned Mafalda statue. Don't forget your cameras; capturing a moment with this beloved character is essential!
We will then continue to Casa Mínima, recognized as the narrowest residence in Buenos Aires, filled with intriguing tales. Following this, we’ll pass by El Viejo Almacén, a prominent venue for tango, learning about the essence of this vibrant cultural tradition.
Our exploration will include a visit to the San Telmo Market, where we will enjoy some authentic handmade dulce de leche, a delightful local treat.
Additionally, we'll visit the Church of San Pedro Telmo, the main parish dedicated to the neighborhood’s patron saint. Throughout our walk, we will also encounter notable landmarks such as La Estrella Pharmacy and Ávila Bookshop, enriching our experience with historical context.
We will conclude our tour at Dorrego Square, the vibrant heart of San Telmo, where we will bid farewell after an engaging two-hour exploration.
