We meet at the "Palermo" subway station in the Palermo neighborhood, an area with pedestrian zones alongside Juan B. Justo Avenue. We will discuss Borges' connection to this neighborhood, which was a suburb in the late 19th century.Literary Exploration
Our conversation will focus especially on "Hombre de la esquina rosada", which is set near the Arroyo Maldonado, currently running beneath Juan B. Justo Avenue. We will walk to the Distrito Arcos area, stopping to read and analyze the poem "Las calles" and its various rewritings.Childhood Location
We will continue to the corner of Borges and Paraguay, where Borges spent his childhood. There, we will read and analyze the poem "Fundación mítica de Buenos Aires".Subway Ride and Closure
Next, we will take the D subway line to Plaza de Mayo and enter the San Telmo neighborhood. Our first stop will be the old National Library on Mexico Street. We will discuss the political circumstances that led Borges to become the director of the National Library in 1955. We will read and analyze the poem "Poema de los dones" before concluding the tour.What's included
