Retiro & La Recoleta Walking Tour
Description
Discover the streets and monuments of two of the most stately and imposing neighborhoods of Buenos Aires with this tour of Retiro & La Recoleta.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet outside the French Embassy to begin the tour of Retiro & La Recoleta, during which we'll stroll through every corner of these two neighborhoods.
Our first stop will be in front of the Church of Pilar, an architectural jewel dating back to the 19th century. We'll then continue towards the Recoleta Cultural Centre, a space of artistic excellence in the neighborhood. Afterwards, we'll make a stop at the Faculty of Law Building while we learn about its important role in the La Recoleta area in the consecration of Buenos Aires as the epicentre of Latin America.
We'll then begin heading towards the Floralis Genérica, a structure which opens and closes with the light of the sun. Wonder what its meaning is and how it works? Well, we'll find out! Afterwards, we'll make our way to the National Art Museum, a complex which is home to an extensive collection of national and international works.
Next, we'll visit the Mariano Moreno National Library, an imposing building which safeguards Argentine memory. We'll then head to two cosy squares in La Recoleta: Plaza Mitre and Plaza Francia. There, we'll soak up the bohemian atmosphere, surrounded by artisan stores.
We'll bring this guided tour to an end after 2.5 hours together at Plaza Francia.
