Montevideo Day Trip + Candombe Workshop
Description
Embark on a day trip to Montevideo, where you'll experience the city through a direct ferry ride with Buquebus, followed by a panoramic city tour, a delightful lunch, and an engaging candombe workshop that introduces you to the traditional rhythms of Uruguay.
Tour Overview
Begin your journey at the Buquebus terminal in Puerto Madero, where you'll depart from Buenos Aires on a ferry bound for Uruguay.
After approximately 2.5 hours navigating the Rio de la Plata, your trip will culminate at the port of Montevideo. Upon arrival, we will escort you from the pier to the vibrant districts of Barrio Sur and Palermo, renowned as the cradle of Candombe, an Afro-Uruguayan musical and dance style recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
As you stroll through the lively streets of these neighborhoods, you'll participate in a Candombe workshop. This interactive session, hosted in one of these cultural hotspots, will allow you to explore various drums and learn to play them to the beat of different rhythms.
Upon completing the workshop, we will head to a restaurant in central Montevideo for a delicious lunch, featuring an appetizer, a choice of main dish—options include meat, fish, or pasta—and a sweet dessert.
Post-lunch, enjoy a panoramic tour of Montevideo. From the comfort of the vehicle, you'll be able to view key landmarks of the capital, including the Obelisk to the Constituents of 1830, the Centenario Stadium, the scenic Rambla, and the iconic city sign. After this tour, you'll have around an hour of free time for shopping at a popular mall.
Finally, your day will conclude as we return to the port of Montevideo to board the Buquebus ferry back to Buenos Aires. Following a 2.5-hour journey, you will arrive at the Puerto Madero dock, marking the end of this enriching 16-hour experience.
